Lynx

Royal Netherlands Marines assigned to the frigate HNLMS De Zeven Provincien (FFG 802) fast rope from a Lynx helicopter onto the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau’s (LHA 4) flight deck during a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) exercise. The exercise provided an opportunity for both navies to train in a combined coalition environment to form a more effective and cohesive force. A British Royal Navy GKN Westland Lynx HMA Mk. 8 helicopter acts as plane guard for an MH-53 Sea Dragon helicopter assigned to the “Vanguards” of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen (HM-14), pulling a Mark 105 magnetic sled during mine countermeasures operations near the mouth of the Khawar Abd Allah river. The Vanguards are embarked aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Ponce (LPD 15) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
