AS350BA Squirrel

Two Royal Australian Navy Squirrels show their synchronised flying display at the 2008 Defence Air Show at RAAF Base Amberley. The 2008 Defence Air Show at RAAF Base Amberley featured flying and ground displays involving aircraft from the three Services, the United States Air Force, United States Marines, ‘Warbirds’, and those commercial contractors that directly support regional Australian Defence Force (ADF) activities.

The Defence Forces have deployed Army and Air Corps assets to assist fire-fighting efforts in the North West of the country today. An Air Corps AW 139 helicopter fitted with a specialist under slung Bambi Bucket is currently dropping water on fires in the Dungloe area. The Bambi bucket has a capacity of 1,200 litres. A second helicopt...er with a fire safety qualified Army Engineer on-board is currently in the air over Donegal and North West Mayo. The Army Engineer is providing advice and information to the fire fighting effort on the ground based on an assessment of the fires from the air. A third helicopter is currently being prepared for deployment to the Foxford / Pontoon area of North West Mayo in order to assist in fire fighting efforts in that location.
