Royal Australian Navy Sea King helicopters from 817 Squadron making their final flight before decommissioning. Mid Caption: To mark the end of an era. The Sea King helicopters will be retired after 35 years’ service and 817 Squadron decommissioned after 48 years’ continuous service at a traditional ceremony in Nowra on Friday 16 December 2011. The Royal Australian Navy’s Sea King helicopters are being retired after 35 years of remarkable service to Australia in times of conflict, peacekeeping, natural disaster, search and rescue and national celebration. As well as retiring its current aircraft, 817 Squadron will also decommission after 48 years of continual service, during which time it has operated the Wessex and Sea King helicopters. CH-146 Griffon

A Canadian Forces Flight Engineer conducts a pre-flight check of his CH-146 Griffon helicopter prior to departuring from a camp located near Huntsville, Ontario during the G8/G20 Summits.
During Operation CADENCE, the Canadian Forces (CF) provide unique resources and capabilities to support to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)-led Integrated Security Unit (ISU) by monitoring maritime, air and land approaches. The ISU is responsible for ensuring the security of the Summit participants and nearby residents during the 2010 Muskoka G8 and Toronto G20 Summits and is comprised of members from the CF, RCMP, Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police Service and Peel Regional Police.
The G8 and G20 Summits provide the leaders of the world’s most industrialized nations and the leading emerging nations with an opportunity to discuss issues such as fiscal and monetary policy co-ordination and international development to advance international economic co-operation. UH-1Y Huey

The new Bell UH-1Y Huey helicopter assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron (HMM) 163 (REIN) flies toward the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). A UH-1Y Huey helicopter takes off from the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). This transport helicopter, assigned to Rotary Wing Aircraft Test Squadron (HX) 21, based in Patuxent River, Md., has already been implemented in the fleet and is expected to replace the older UH-1N. The helicopter features a larger engine and two more blades than the Huey's original two, giving it more carrying capabilities. Wasp is underway conducting test flight operations and was chosen as the platform to evaluate the limits and capabilities of newer and upgraded models of aircraft.
