A United Kingdom Royal Navy HMA 8 Lynx helicopter flies near the U.S. Sixth Fleet flagship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) in the Mediterranean Sea during exercise Destined Glory (Loyal Midas) 2005. Royal Netherlands Marines assigned to the frigate HNLMS De Zeven Provincien (FFG 802) fast rope from a Lynx helicopter onto the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau’s (LHA 4) flight deck during a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) exercise. The exercise provided an opportunity for both navies to train in a combined coalition environment to form a more effective and cohesive force.
